Now Playing introduces games you can buy and play today, written for someone deciding whether to start one. Each page covers who makes the game, where it is sold and for how much on the day the page was written, what the first hours ask of a new player, what the age ratings say, and what is still unclear. Prices, versions and events are dated, because they change.

The eleven so far range widely. Balatro, made by one person, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the first game from a studio of about thirty, are recent hits from small teams. No Man's Sky, Deep Rock Galactic, Among Us and Old School RuneScape are long-running games that are still changing, and their pages explain what a newcomer faces years in. Factorio is the steep one, a factory game with a reputation for eating months. Valheim left Early Access on 9 September 2026 and Subnautica 2 entered it in May. Gothic 1 Remake rebuilds a 2001 role-playing game, and Order of the Sinking Star is Jonathan Blow's game of more than 1,000 puzzles, on sale since 8 October.
